Area Manger Intern

June - August 2022 • Greenville, IN

What I liked

They provided an amazing apartment for the interns and covered flight costs. The job was laborious but informative, and the great leadership made work organized.

What I wish was different

Amazon has a no sitting policy outside of assigned breaks. Working for 10 hours while standing is not great. It was a fulfillment center, so it was understandable. However, I’m not sure it’s ethical.

Advice

If you want to apply, be ready to be relocated. Go into it with a lot of energy and willingness to learn. But make sure to prioritize your health regardless of anything.

Associate

July 2020 • Santa Clara, CA

What I liked

Good community and good managers. I got to choose my schedule and gained access to an internal jobs board at Amazon in order to transfer into a position that I could turn into a career.

What I wish was different

It can be chaotic at times and you will have to spend time in the freezer and a refrigerator they call the chiller. There is equipment for you, but those environments are not the best.

Area Manager Intern

June - August 2021 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I liked how there was an opportunity to learn what you were interested in. My manager cared about my personal and professional goals and was always there to support me.

What I wish was different

I wish it was structured more, this was the first year they offered the internship to sophomores so naturally there were some kinks to be worked out.

Advice

If you're looking to gain real-world experience in supply chain with a large company then do not hesitate and apply.

Workplace health and safety intern

May - August 2021 • Cleveland, OH

What I liked

I liked working with different departments within the facility. An Amazon internship makes you work. And the work or the project you work on is implemented in the organization. The work you do actually makes a difference. I also liked the team I worked with. They were friendly and willing to help answer questions if you have any.

What I wish was different

I did not get enough time to connect with my manager, he was usually busy with something. Apart from that everything was good.

Advice

As an intern, there is a lot you might not know about the organization or what their daily operations goes like. So, never be afraid to ask a questions. By asking a question, it lets the people you are working with that you want to to learn and do better. So, ask questions!!

Receiving Clerk

November 2017 • Redlands, CA

What I liked

I liked the fast-paced environment, the opportunity to positively affect customers, and the networking opportunities.

What I wish was different

One aspect I wish had been different was retention rate of employees. Since the company promotes employees at a moderately quick rate, some of the positions are not filled soon enough which left gaps in learning and training.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share is that it is very helpful to be able to multi-task, work carefully, and work efficiently in this type of setting. Strong leadership skills are a plus when it comes to promoting in the company.

Sortation Associate

June - October 2021 • Poway, CA

What I liked

I appreciated the building managers who helped make the job feel more personal despite working in a large warehouse.

What I wish was different

Unfortunately because of COVID, social distancing and masks were required, which inevitably made it more difficult to connect with fellow coworkers.

Advice

There were always people just joining as new hires and people leaving for different reasons, so the people you work with can potentially be very inconsistent. However, it can still be a good work experience, depending a lot on your building managers, and it's pretty easy to move up in job positions and be given more responsibilities if you want to stay long term.
