Warehouse Associate

November 2017 • DuPont, WA

What I liked

The benefits are pretty good. If you are a good worker and kind, the employers are understanding. It's hard work, but sometimes it's good.

What I wish was different

Their Rate system would be nice if they didn't make it higher, but they did make a few changes that aren't too bad.

Advice

It's hard work, you can get worn out. If you understand how to properly diet, such as getting enough protein intake, vitamins, staying well hydrated, doing your stretches, properly exercise, and staying motivated will get you through this.

Warehouse Associate

June - August 2019 • Garland, TX

What I liked

The pay was good comparatively to other summer jobs

What I wish was different

Honestly working in the warehouse was terrible. There was no A/C, the supervisors were super rude, and people passed out frequently. The expectations were way way unreasonable.

Advice

If you really need the money, the shifts were 3-4 hours and I worked first thing in the morning and was paid weekly. The money was great and has been super helpful, but I will not sugar coat when I say this job is absolutely awful.

Amazon Associate

May - August 2020 • North Haven, CT

What I liked

I enjoyed the structure of the workday, the safety of the warehouse during the pandemic, and the pay.

What I wish was different

I wish there were more breaks and less of a competitive atmosphere. I struggled physically with the expectations even though I am fit. I also dreaded going into work because I would return home physically and emotionally exhausted.

Advice

Take shorter shifts.

Amazon Warehouse Associate

July - September 2019 • Eastvale, CA

What I liked

The pay was good for an entry level job.

What I wish was different

Nothing.

Advice

Gel insoles are highly recommended because you will be standing for 10 hours a day. The first few days are rough, as your body is not used to the rigorous activity. Bring your own lunch. The food they sell in the breaks rooms and food truck are overpriced.

Amazon Worker

June - August 2020 • Twinsburg, OH

What I liked

It was great working for Amazon as they care a lot about their employees. They give great benefits and applying is very easy. I did not even have an interview. They just immediately hired me after a background check.

What I wish was different

I was originally planning on going back to Olympus Surgical Technologies America for my last Co-op rotation but because of COVID-19, my Co-op was suspended. So I had to quickly find a replacement job. Happily, Amazon quickly hired me and I had a summer job that paid pretty well too. However, I do wish I could have gone back to Olympus because it was more conducive for my career.

Advice

If you work at Amazon, definitely apply to get your Blue Badge. You are eligible after a few months of working there (I don't remember the exact time frame) but getting your Blue Badge includes a lot of the benefits including but not limited to 30 hours of unpaid time off and also a reasonable amount of paid time off as well.

PA problem solver

June 2020 • Aurora, IL

What I liked

What I like about working at amazon is that as a college student, they offer so many support for you. They work with your schedule and even have tuition reimbursement. They also have time for you to take off or get more hours if needed. In just five months I managed to go from a regular warehouse worker to now a PA problem solver!

What I wish was different

What I wish it had been different is nothing actually. I wish I could have started sooner.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share with others about this experience is to learn to adjust to the schedule. You only work four days out of the week and it is 10 hour shifts - learn how to manage your time and social life! Once that is covered and you have a balanced and healthy schedule everything will be a piece of cake!
